Shore Based Maintenance (SBM) Agreements & Certificates

The equipment listed in the Declaration of Shore Based Maintenance (SBM) is covered by a corresponding agreement to provide its availability as required by Regulation IV/15 of the 1988 GMDSS amendments to the 1974 SOLAS.

These regulations request, that authorized and technically capable companies shall be responsible to take care of your GMDSS systems. Many countries are more and more demanding for companies offering Shore Based Maintenance to be able to prove that they can provide the services they advertise and contract.

Requirements will include the need for the service provider to have recognized Quality Assurance registration;360 day support; have access to OEM for support and spares, etc. We naturally meet and fulfill these requirements for the provision of this service!

We offer SBM for a yearly fee to direct the service activities for you, hold available exchange units , take over the communications & service administration expenses adn issue the required certification and paperwork.

Note: Shore Based Maintenance agreement / certificate is needed on board to fulfill the maintenance requirements as mentioned in the “SOLAS GMDSS” regulations (CHAPTER IV Reg. 15) and the Radio Maintenance Guide Lines (RES. A702-17), for GMDSS equipment sailing in Sea Area A2-A3-A4.
